CNAME stands for Canonical Name, it’s a type of DNS record used to map a subdomain or alias to a domain name.

In the context of WordPress, it can be used to map a custom domain name to a WordPress site hosted on a different server or platform. This can be useful when you want to use a custom domain name for your WordPress site without having to migrate your site to a new hosting provider or server.

CNAME is used to direct traffic from one domain to another domain. CNAME should never point directly to an IP address.
